My interest in the way people interact with technology can be rooted back to my childhood. In truth, it has more to do with people and sociology than it does with technology. I am fascinated with how groups of people interact with the world around them, how they make decisions, and how they quantify value. It was only after I bought my first cell phone that I realized that technology had the unique opportunity to transform the lives of societies in immeasurable ways.
In college, I majored in Management Information Systems so that I could focus on the intersection of business and technology. My internships with State Farm Insurance Company and Target Corporation served to strengthen that foundation. My career’s direction took off after a Systems Analysis and Design course taught me how to actionably chart and improve business processes with Technology. This was the glue that brought my passions together! I found a way to wrap my technology background around the daily lives of the people I serve to augment their lives!
My nearly 10 years of experience in the industry at PepsiCo have given me a chance to exercise that passion on many levels. I’ve led technology harmonization efforts with clients and partners distributed across many different regions in the world, and I’ve led specialized initiatives with specific business partners with differentiated needs just in North America. I’ve steered short, multi-week projects, as well as large, multi-million-dollar, multi-year initiatives that transformed the way business was performed.
In that time, I’ve had the chance to appreciate that Business and Technology are two complementary aspects of the same road moving in the same direction!
